Anything that we go after, which is going to be beneficial, is going to involve effort and sacrifice; there is nothing that we can accomplish in this life without these two things.
The problem with a large majority of people is, they want maximum return for minimum effort and life just does not work like that. When a person accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal saviour that is just the start, now the work beginnings! Things that never used to be an issue, all of a sudden are a big issue, this is because God’s standards and our standards are different: e.g. Whereas before you would comfortably sit down and watch certain things on the TV, now because the Holy Spirit starts directing your life, when you watch those same things, you feel very uncomfortable because your standards are being refined. You were sanctified (set apart) when you accepted Jesus and now you are going through the process of sanctification (refining) through the Holy Spirit, which will last until your last breath. If you can do the same things you used to do and have the same appetites you use to have with feeling any conviction, you seriously have to question whether or not your conversion to Christianity was a really one: 2Co 5:17 So that if any one is in Christ, that one is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Rom 10:8 But what does it say? "The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart"; that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim; Rom 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame." So it is going to take sacrifice and effort because while you are being refined there are still things that you like to do, but you have to make the decision to stop doing them (that is the sacrifice) , then you have to walk in that decision, (that is the effort). To follow Christ and be obedient to his word is a decision and to not follow him and be disobedient to his word, is also a decision. When we go to work, at the end of the day, week or month we expect our pay check, well in the same way when we work in sin, it also pays wages: Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We have an enemy of our souls who has established a world system designed to tap into our lower natures to move us further and further away from God. So in order to have victory over what he has set up, we need to stick as close to God through Jesus as possible. The way we do this is by knowing and applying his word into our lives. That too is a decision, however if we do, this is what happens: Jas 4:7 Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Jas 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, double-minded ones. Jas 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to heaviness. Jas 4:10 Be humbled before the Lord, and He will lift you up. It does take effort and sacrifice to be a Christian; however the rewards far outweigh the challenges of the journey. Parallel Principals In our business, the biggest problem I have seen over the years is, people want maximum return for minimum effort. This is a big problem because when they do not get the results they want the first thing they do is blame either, the Company, the Products or the Opportunity, when in reality the problem lays closer to home. God’s law of Sowing and Reaping is universal so, if a person sows in the right areas they can expect a harvest. If you increase your skill, you will increase your value the market place and your income will follow your personal growth. Personal growth is going to take effort and sacrifice and many people do not want to do that because it takes them out of their regular routine. A person needs to know why they are doing what they are doing, because they do not know or if it is not strong enough, they will not build this business. However if a person is committed and willing to sacrifice and put in the effort, the rewards far outweigh the challenges of the journey. ************************************************* Jason Gregory Business Coach & Mentor Reliv *************************************************
