Be Prepared For An Answer
It is amazing how as believers we can recite Christian rhetoric, but do we really believe it? The Bible says, “Ask and it should be given, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened onto you” (Matthew 7:7) This means, when we ask we should expect an answer without doubting, because God cannot lie. However how many times when we ask God for something or we enquiry about something, in the back of our minds we are doubting whether or not we are going to hear back? We are all on our own personal journeys of faith and God using situations to stretch our faith because in stretching it, it produces more of it. The waiting period between asking and receiving is the hardest time for most people, this is why we need to develop the fruits of the spirit in our lives, one of which is patience ( Galatians 5) You see the Spirit of God allows us the develop the right attitude of a Kingdom citizen and this is the very reason why we can prepare in the Kingdom of God (The colony here on this earth) for the Kingdom of Heaven (The Mother Country). As citizens of the Kingdom, we have to understand the authority we are tapped into and when we truly understand that, when we ask there will be no doubt in our minds that we are going to receive an answer. Jesus said that we should seek first the Kingdom of God and it’s righteousness (Mathew 6:33) In other words we should understand how the kingdom works with regards to its laws, principles and processes. Unfortunately most Christians translate this verse to means serving in church or doing works like evangelizing etc. This is why even though many Christians do many good works; there are certain areas of their lives that they are just struggling in. This is because they are promoting the Kingdom but they are not seeking the Kingdom. To seek something out it is to understand it: Ecc_7:25 I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness: Pro 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. God has laid laws down in his kingdom and if we just applied them our lives could be completely different. This is why when we know what the laws and principles are, we will know what to ask for: Jas 4:3 You ask for something but do not get it because you ask for it for the wrong reason—for your own pleasure. This does not mean that God does not want us to live a pleasurable life, however the pleasures that we desire, should be in the context of a Kingdom attitude. People try to super spiritualize this and say “their pleasure is just to see people saved”, which is a good pleasure to have, however, most people also pleasure in not having to struggling, having a nice place to live, making sure their families are taken care of, not being sick. God knows all these things and that is why he said, if we understand his kingdom laws and it’s righteousness (right way of doing things), all of these thing will be added unto you. So what are you asking and believing God for this morning? Take time out to studying into the laws of his kingdom. What I did is look at every verse in the gospels where Jesus spoke of either the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Heaven. This will be a good starting point to put everything into context. Parallel Business Principles If you understand Kingdom law and principles, it will affect all areas of your life, including your business. God wants to prosper you and bless the work of your hands, because he knows if you do not have money issues, your mind can be more focused of Kingdom business. Too many people see work as doing harder graft because they are looking at it in the context of the curse: Gen_3:19 You will eat food by the sweat of your brow until you’re buried in the ground, because you were taken from it. You’re made from dust and you’ll return to dust.” However when we are born again, we are no longer living in that kingdom of the curse but we are in God’s kingdom and in God’s kingdom there is always provision, we just need to seek it out by allowing God to direct us. So it is no longer about just working hard, it is also about working smart: Mat 6:25 Stop Worrying (Luke 12:22-34) “That’s why I’m telling you to stop worrying about your life—what you will eat or what you will drink —or about your body—what you will wear. Life is more than food, isn’t it, and the body more than clothing? Mat 6:26 Look at the birds in the sky. They don’t plant or harvest or gather food into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. You are more valuable than they are, aren’t you? Mat 6:27 Can any of you add a single hour to the length of your life by worrying? Mat 6:28 And why do you worry about clothes? Consider the lilies in the field and how they grow. They don’t work or spin yarn, Mat 6:29 but I tell you that not even Solomon in all of his splendor was clothed like one of them. Mat 6:30 Now if that is the way God clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and thrown into an oven tomorrow, won’t he clothe you much better—you who have little faith? If you ask God to be a part of what you are doing, he will bless it, but you still have to do your part.
