Being Too Familiar
As Christians we have the privilege of having our sin forgiven, we have been bought with a price that we just could not afford. This is why no one can earn their way into heaven. There is only one way and that is through Jesus the Christ: Joh 14:5 Thomas asked him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Joh 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. We have been given access to have a personal intimate relationship with the Father through his son, where we can enter his throne room of grace, however sometimes we can take his grace for granted. We are no longer under the school master of the Law, BUT God has not changed and the same God that expected a higher standard from his people in the Old Testament is the same God that expected a higher standard from his people in the New Testament. Today we are to be that standard in this sin sick corrupt world. We have to be very carefully that just because we do not have to go through all the rituals of the Old Testament because Christ is the fulfillment of all that, that we do not get so familiar that we forget about reverentially fearing God. Lets not forget, God is a God of Love, but he is also a consuming fire and he will judge sin. Familiarity really hit home, when you look at the life of Judas Iscariot, this was a man who was intimately acquainted with Jesus, he was one of the 12. He saw first hand the miracles that Jesus did; he had personal mastermind sessions with our Lord and savior. Imagine having Jesus physically with you as a personal mentor, being able to just follow him around and witness his greatness as he interacted with the people around him. Yet Judas got so familiar he forgot about reverentially fearing Jesus, so he started stealing, allowing greed to take over. He forgot that the God who sees everything was watching his every move. He took for granted the fact that he would always be part of the 12 and Jesus became more of an acquaintance than his lord and savior. We can look at Judas with scorn but the reality is many times we have treated Jesus like that, he has become more of an acquaintance than our Lord and Savior. We assume that he will just look over our mistakes so we free to make them, No! The same God who is the God of grace, also penned the letter of the Law: Rom 7:7 The Law Shows Us What Sin is What should we say, then? Is the Law sinful? Of course not! In fact, I wouldn’t have become aware of sin if it had not been for the Law. I wouldn’t have known what it means to covet if the Law had not said, “You must not covet.” Rom 7:8 But sin seized the opportunity provided by this commandment and produced in me all kinds of sinful desires, since apart from the Law, sin is dead. Rom 7:9 At one time I was alive without any connection to the Law. But when the rule was revealed, sin sprang to life, Rom 7:10 and I died. I found that the very rule that was intended to bring life actually brought death. Rom 7:11 For sin, seizing the opportunity provided by the rule, deceived me and used it to kill me. Rom 7:12 So then, the Law itself is holy, and the rule is holy, just, and good. We should actively, daily be working out our own salvation with fear and trembling, knowing that our loving heavenly father is also ultimately our judge. With that in mind this should activate a sense of ore and respect that he deserves and give us a renewed dependency on Jesus as the one who bridged the gap for us. So he is more than just a friend. Parallel Business Principles It is important that you have the right level of respect for your upline support team as the people that will be training you to help you to be successful. The danger is to get too familiar with them, that you loose respect for them and start thinking you are better than them, so you don’t need them. This is the quickest way for you to fail in this business. Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. I have experienced this in my own organization where success got to the heads of a couple of my leaders and they became un-teachable a disrespectful. They are no longer around, God has the ability to purge what needs to be purged so that new growth can happen and old corruption being removed. Never loose respect for your upline and even if you begin to earn more than them, never let that change you as a person. Remember this business is about raising people up not pulling people down. ******************************************* Jason Gregory Business Coach & Mentor Reliv *******************************************
