There is not one person who is ever born a Christian, being a Christian is as a result of a decision. Therefore every one of us came to Christ with baggage and a past.
It is important for us to understand that in order for us to move on in our relationship with God, we cannot hold onto the past, we cannot continue in the same habits we had in the past. God has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light (1Peter 2:9) If a person want to live in the past or look back and hold onto bad habits, the only thing that person is doing is destroying themselves. You may say you are a Christian; however you heart is where you place your treasures: Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. When God was delivering Lot and his family out of Sodom and Gomorrah as he was destroying it because of the sin of the city, he instructed them not to look back as they were being delivered. However, because Lots wife’s heart was still in the city because she got used to the sinful lifestyle of the city, she looked back and because of that was turned into a pillar of salt (Gen 19:26) We cannot be in the world and in the church at the same time, with God it is either all or nothing. That is not to say we are perfect because we are not, we will make mistakes, but we are being perfected. A lot of times we hold onto the things of the past that are not helping us but are hindering us, so instead of letting go of certain things, we let those things move us further and further away from God. But listen to what the Apostle Paul said about past things that he used to value: Php 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death; Php 3:11 if by any means I might attain to the resurrection of the dead. Php 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I am pressing on, if I may lay hold of that for which I also was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Php 3:13 My brothers, I do not count myself to have taken possession, but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things before, Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Php 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be of this mind. And if in anything you are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this to you. Your past does not dictate your future, however your past can be a springboard towards your future. Many people use their past as an excuse for their bad behaviour saying things like “I’m trying to stop........” However saying I am trying to stop, give you permission to continue to do it! God knows are hearts: Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? So when people say, who are making these excuses, that God knows their heart, they are absolutely correct and that alone should cause them to repent. So God is calling each and every one of us out of our pasts and into our futures, some of us will choose to continue to keep on walking forward, other will turn back to look, resulting in our lives just being a monument of a bad decision. Parallel Principal The parallels in this are immense. People come into business opportunities because they are looking for a better life for themselves and their families. However, many people who come into these opportunities have never run a business before, so they come in with an employee mindset. It will take personal growth for many people to break out of that and unfortunately some people never will and as a result of that they quit. Reliv I believe is a once in a lifetime opportunity but in order for a person to see that they have to immerse themselves in the Reliv success system. If they don’t they will just see it as one of many business opportunities that are out there. Many people when they first came to Reliv, were not: Organised Had no self confidence Did not like speaking to people Did not like standing in front of a group of people presenting Could not understand the importance of Follow Up Had the wrong motives in regards to the money they wanted to make. However, when they immersed themselves in the Reliv system, all of that changed. Then there are the others who did not immerse themselves in the Reliv system and kept their bad attitudes and today are nowhere to be seen. You see if you cannot forget the things that are behind you and press forward, you will never be successful in whatever you do. So if you are trying to build a Reliv business but you are holding onto to past defeats in your business, you are at a standstill and you need to let things go. Remember God has promised to bless the work of your hands, if you put him first. *********************************************** Jason Gregory Mentor & Coach www.visionarys.ws ***********************************************
