We serve a God who big on relationships, he is not like an absentee father, but wants to be involved in every aspect of our lives. This is why no one is born a Christian but they choose to be one. Something that is forced on someone is not love because love is never forced. Our free will allows us to choose God or not.
I was brought up in a Christian home, many members of my family were and still are in the ministry, but I personally did not become a Christian until I was 27 years old. Having a knowledge of something is not enough, that knowledge needs to be acted upon. When Jesus walked on this planet, he had to deal with a lot of people who had knowledge but no application. The Scribes and the Pharisees knew the scripts, it was their job to, but it was all in their head and had not filtered down to their heart. The danger of having a lot of head knowledge is, if you are not careful, you can become very unteachable and proud. This is why when Jesus was telling the Scribes and the Pharisees that they should be doing better based on their knowledge of the scripts, they got offended: Mat 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Mat 23:26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Mat 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Mat 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. The Bible says that the word is a “Light to our feet and a lamp to our path” (Psalms 119:105) We need the light to our feet to make sure we do not stumble and the lamp to our path so that we can have a clear picture of where we are going. That light and lamp is the thing that allows us to move away from just head knowledge into heart knowledge. A good example of this difference is the discussion Jesus had with Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin, which was a group of men zealous in up holding the Jewish law through the scriptures. However their knowledge was just head not heart: Joh 3:1 Jesus Talks with Nicodemus Now there was a man from the Pharisees, a leader of the Jews, whose name was Nicodemus. Joh 3:2 He came to Jesus at night and told him, “Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher, because no one can perform these signs that you are doing unless God is with him.” Joh 3:3 Jesus replied to him, “Truly, I tell you emphatically, unless a person is born from above he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Joh 3:4 Nicodemus asked him, “How can a person be born when he is old? He can’t go back into his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?” Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, I tell you emphatically, unless a person is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Joh 3:6 What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Joh 3:7 Don’t be astonished that I told you, ‘All of you must be born from above.’ [Or born again] Joh 3:8 The wind blows where it wants to. You hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. That’s the way it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Joh 3:9 Nicodemus asked him, “How can that be?” Joh 3:10 Jesus answered him, “You’re a teacher of Israel, and you can’t understand this? Joh 3:11 Truly, I tell you emphatically, we know what we’re talking about, and we testify about what we’ve seen. Yet you people do not accept our testimony. Joh 3:12 If I have told you people about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? Even though Nicodemus was well read in the scriptures and had a good understanding of Jewish law, there was still something missing. In order for a person to truly understand the things of God, it is going to take a changed heart because once the heart is changed, the ground is now ready to receive good seed. Only when God moves from your head to your heart can you have a real relationship with him Parallel Business Principals Building a Reliv business successful has similarities to this. A person can have a knowledge of nutrition or of business and can start to build their Reliv business, but until Reliv moves from your head into your heart, they will not have longevity. The way this transition will happen is through plugging into the Reliv System because the Reliv system is designed to expose you to the reality of the stories. Once you understand how people’s lives are being changed for the better, your heart naturally gets moved. Building a Reliv business is deeper than just making money and unless a person truly sees this, they will not be successful in Reliv. ************************************ Jason Gregory Business Coach & Mentor Reliv ************************************
