Listening To God’s Voice
In a world with so many conflicting voices , as Christians we need to know how to listen to the voice of God. How do we know when God is speaking to us? One way is by testing what we have heard by the word of God and seeing if it aligns. We have to have some kind of litmus test because in the same way God speaks to us, the enemy also speaks to us and if we do not know how to discern the two, we will be deceived: 2Ch 18:11 All the other prophets were saying similar things, like “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and you will be successful, because the Lord will hand it over to the king!” 2Ch 18:12 Micaiah the True Prophet Warns Ahab and Jehoshaphat (1 Kings 22:13-28) Meanwhile, the messenger who had gone off to summon Micaiah advised him, “Look, everything that the other prophets were saying has been unanimously favorable to the king. So please, cooperate with them and speak favorably.” 2Ch 18:13 “As the Lord lives,” Micaiah replied, “I’ll say what my God tells me to say.” 2Ch 18:14 When Micaiah [Lit. he] approached the king, the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should I not?” “Go to war,” Micaiah [Lit. he] replied, “and you will be successful, because the Lord will hand it over to the king!” 2Ch 18:15 When he heard this, the king asked him, “How many times do I have to ask you? Tell me nothing but the truth, and do it in the name of the Lord!” 2Ch 18:16 And so Micaiah replied: I saw all of Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. And the Lord told me, ‘These have no master, so let them each return to his own home in peace.’” 2Ch 18:17 Then the king of Israel told Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he wouldn’t prophesy anything good about me, but only evil?” 2Ch 18:18 But Micaiah responded, “Therefore, listen to what the Lord has to say. I saw the Lord, sitting on his throne, and the entire Heavenly Army was surrounding him on his right hand and on his left hand. 2Ch 18:19 “The Lord asked, ‘Who will tempt King Ahab of Israel to attack Ramoth-gilead, so that he will die there?’ And one was saying one thing and one was saying another. 2Ch 18:20 “But then a spirit approached, stood in front of the Lord, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “And the Lord asked him, ‘How?’ 2Ch 18:21 “‘I will go,’ he announced, ‘and I will be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all of his prophets!’ “So the Lord said, ‘You’re just the one to deceive him. You will be successful. Go and do it.’ If we spend the time to build up a personal relationship with God then he will speak to us and we will here his voice: Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one. It is so important to understand this because the worldview is that there is no God and every message either directly or indirectly will be promoting this anti-God agenda. If you allow this message in it then trickles into all other areas of your life and you will begin to be double minded about the things of God and then become unstable. Once the enemy can get you doubt the word of God, he can begin the process of replacing the voice of God. Once this happens you loose your identity of being a child of the kingdom and adopt a world identity. You start gravitating back to the old things you use to do before you got saved and the old attitudes start coming back. Before you know it, you are completely anti the things of God and may be even worst than you where before: Luk 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. Luk 11:25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Luk 11:26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. This is the danger of not listening to the voice of God. However when we do listen to the voice of God, then our lives are not governed by the opinions of others, we do not need the approval of man because we know we have the approval of God. We are able to deal with the negative external and internal voices a lot better and stay focused. We understand that even though we are finite, we are connected to the infinite which means our potential is also infinite. We understand our identity and will not take onboard someone else’s name! This is the power of listening to the voice of God. Parallel Business Principles In business you have to be able to listen to the right voices, in other words, the right instructions. The right instructions will be the difference between success and failure. You also need to be teachable so that you will apply the instructions you get given. So many people fail at things simply because they either did not get the right instructions or they simply did not apply them. This is no different in Reliv, if you have the right mentorship but you do not apply it, then your business will not grow. Also if you have the wrong mentorship, that will also hinder the growth of your business. This is why it is so important the stay plugged into the system, so that you can hear the correct voices needed for you to be successful. So do not be like the people that think the business does not work when they are doing all the wrong things, but see growth in your business as YOU WORK the business. ****************************************** Jason Gregory Business Coach & Mentor Reliv ******************************************
