IT’S TIME TO SHINE
As Christians, many times even though we read the bible, we miss fundamental truths contained within it concerning certain areas of life and therefore fail to benefit in that area. The best success manual ever created are the scriptures, every other success book has either copied or perverted the principals contained within it. It saddens me when I see people in the world applying certain biblical laws, without even knowing it and prospering in those areas, and there are people in the church, who should know better, who do not apply these laws, struggle through life in those areas and think it is part of the trials and tribulations of being a Christian. It is time for Christian to wake up! When I look at the life of Joseph, I see a man who knew where he was going and was patient enough to endue many hardships while applying the principals and laws of God, as God used these same hardships to mould him and eventually promote him. Joseph was a visionary, he was never going to be the type of person who would be satisfied in a normal 9 to 5 like his brothers and because he was a different thinker his brothers disliked him. Gen 37:5 And Joseph dreamed a dream and told it to his brothers. And they hated him still more. Gen 37:6 And he said to them, I pray you, Hear this dream which I have dreamed. Gen 37:7 For behold! We were binding sheaves in the middle of the field, and lo, my sheaf arose and also stood upright. And behold, your sheaves stood around and bowed down to my sheaf. Gen 37:8 And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have the rule over us? And they hated him still more for his dreams and for his words. When a person thinks differently from the majority, this can cause people to think negatively towards them. When you have the right mindset, doors will open for you that will allow you to rise above what is classed as normal work and be entrusted with greater work: Gen 37:14 And he said to him, please go see whether it is well with your brothers and well with the flocks. And bring me word again. And he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. Because your outlook on life is different, sometimes the very people that you think should be in your corner, are the very people that fight you down: Gen 37:18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. Gen 37:19 And they said to one another, Behold, this dreamer comes. Gen 37:20 Therefore come now, and let us kill him, and throw him into some pit, and we will say some evil beast has devoured him. And we shall see what will become of his dreams. For the person who loves God things always work out for the good. This is an important principal that if not understood, can cause a person to loose focus and as a result loose blessings. Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Now Joseph finds himself in Egypt as a slave because his brothers don’t kill him but they do get rid of him. He ends up in the house of an Egyptian leader call Potiphar. Even in this situation Joseph continues to focus on God and apply certain success laws like, increasing his skill to increase his value and because of this God promotes: Gen 39:2 And Jehovah was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. And he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. Gen 39:3 And his master saw that Jehovah was with him, and that Jehovah made all he did to prosper in his hand. Gen 39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him. And he made him overseer over his house, and he put into his hand all he had. Gen 39:5 And it happened from the time he had made him overseer in his house, and over all he had, that Jehovah blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake. And the blessing of Jehovah was upon all that he had, in the house and in the field. Even when he ends up in prison because of being falsely accused his focus on God and the skills that he acquired allows God to promote him even in prision! Gen 39:21 But Jehovah was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. Gen 39:22 And the keeper of the prison gave all the prisoners in the prison into Joseph's hand. And whatever they did there, he was the doer of it. Gen 39:23 The keeper of the prison did not look to anything under his hand, because Jehovah was with him; and whatever he did, Jehovah made it to prosper. The reason why Joseph is such a strong example to use is because Joseph was a strong believer who showed all of the skills needed to be a true leader and he was not afraid to learn new ones because he understood that God would take his newly acquired skills and give him the gift of wisdom in order to utilise them for the glory of the kingdom. Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom; and with all your getting get understanding. The amazing thing is God further promotes he from being in prison to being second in command in Egypt, resulting in the unbelieving nation having to come to this believer for provisions. Not only that, but his very brothers who got rid of him had to come to him for provisions. I think the thing that stands out the most in this, is that because of one man’s faithfulness to God and also his insight into learning new skills, he was eventually able to save his whole family from the destruction of famine. Believers, it is time to shine, so that the unbelievers will look to you for provision, giving you influence so you can witness the gospel and show holistic results with your Christianity, truly living in John 10 :10.
