Forgetting Those Things That Are behind
As we are moving into a new year, it is important for us to do some end of year cleaning so that we do not take any unnecessary rubbish with us into the new year. So many people beat themselves up over past failures and get to the stage where they constantly condemn themselves. However if we understand that God has given us certain keys to the kingdom, we will acknowledge that one of those keys is Repentance. As we recognize our mistakes and confess them, God tells us that self condemnation is not necessary: 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. The enemy will try and convince us that there is no hope, however if we understand that he is a liar, then what ever his says, the opposite is true! We are all being perfected and as such, we all make mistakes, but God by his grace allows us to go through that process so that he can bring us to new levels in him. We should always be pressing forward, self condemnation chains us to the past and causes our past to remain in our presence, however confession and repentance are the tools to break those chains and are important keys to the kingdom. Another important key to the kingdom is forgiveness: Luk 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Luk 11:3 Give us day by day our daily bread. Luk 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. One of the main things that keep us locked out of the kingdom is unforgiveness. Forgiveness is not an option for the believer but a requirement to get into the kingdom. So in 2017, let us not bring anything in our hearts that we are holding against anyone else, but lets go and make it right. You will be amazed on just how much power you release when you just forgive others Pauls says: Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Php 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Php 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Php 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. So our higher calling is to be Kingdom Citizens and live with Christ forever, so in order to do that we need to understand the keys to the kingdom. Therefore let 2017 be a year where we discover more and more keys to unlocking the Kingdom. The problem is many of us are trying to apply earthly rules and regulations to a heavenly kingdom and then we wonder why we are not progressing. Unlocking the keys to the kingdom and pressing forward in 2017 is going to be by having an understanding that the Kingdom of God is ruled by a king and his name is Jesus. So it is not a democracy but a Theocracy, so our options have absolutely no impact on the truth. We all came to faith with a past, but God is able to take the strengths and weakness of our past and turn them around for his glory. So stop allowing the enemy to win in your life and understand who you are. You are a citizen of God’s heavenly kingdom!
