Trusting God Through The Unexpected
Life has a tendency to throw challenges at us that we were not expecting; some of these challenges are more testing than others. The one thing that can be guaranteed in life is the challenges will come! So need to know how the respond to the challenges, because we can either fall to pieces or we can fall to our knees. The enemy wants us the fall to pieces because he knows if we do that, then there is an area of a lack of faith that he can continue to attack. The enemy uses tests and temptations as way to test the vulnerabilities in the lives of the believer and once he find it, there is an onslaught in that area. So a lot of times we think these tests have come out of the blue, when in fact they are a result of strategic planning. This is why our everyday walk with God is so important, we have to constantly be asking God the search us, just like David did: Psa 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: Psa 139:24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Our walk with God starts with faith, has to continue through faith and needs to end in faith. So the thing the enemy will try to attack is your faith, he will try to get you to doubt God or question the truth of the word of God. If he can do that you will no longer believe the promises of God concerning you, so you will look to alternatives for strength and comfort. When we do that, we step out of our covering, which is what the enemy wanted us to do, because now he has the legally right to attack us. You see he can test us while we are under God’s covering but he cannot overcome us, but outside of the covering of God he can destroy us: Luke 22:31-32 “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat, Luk 22:32 but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail. When you have come back, you must strengthen your brothers.” So how do we respond to the unexpected challenge? Well first of all we respond through faith because that is how we should be living our lives: Heb 11:6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him. Secondly we need to seek God about the situation because that is putting faith into action. Next we should not fear the situation because fear neutralizes faith: 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Timothy wrote these words when unexpectedly some of his team left him as he was going through a trial. Our trust in God should be unshakeable even when we cannot see the end of the problem: 2Co 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight. We have to trust that God has everything under control and when any thought tries to contradict that, we have to place those thoughts into captivity in the authority of Jesus name and speak to them the word of God and good strong word is the words of Isaiah: Isa 46:8 “Remember this, and stand firm; take it again to heart, you rebels. Isa 46:9 Remember the former things from long ago, Because I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like me. Isa 46:10 I declare from the beginning things to follow, and from ancient times things that have not yet been done; saying, ‘My purpose will stand, and he will accomplish everything that I please.’ Isa 46:11 I am calling a bird of prey from the east, and from a far country a man with his purpose. Indeed, I’ve spoken; I will certainly make it happen; I’ve planned it; and I will certainly carry it out. So we stand on the word of God and in doing that it will strengthen our faith, which will in turn cause us to respond well to the unexpected! Parallel Business Principals In our business always expect the unexpected because we are dealing with people and people can do very unpredictable. Look at Job and friends. Everyone left Jod alone to face God. They hid a safe distance away according to themselves. His wife's answer to him. Curse God and die. God's answer is inspiring.
