What To Do When God Is Silent There can be times in life that are more difficult than others, and in those times you could be praying to God for an answer and God seems to be silent. In those times it is so important that you let your knowledge override your feelings. Your feelings can lie to you and cause you to act and say things that you may later on regret. God is a good God and always hears the prayers of his children, we just have to have the patience when receiving the answer because it could be ‘Yes’ ‘No’ or ‘Not Yet” I know it is hard sometimes and that is why we need the help of the Holy Spirit to get us through these tough times. God does not abandon his children, he is not and absentee father, but he watches over us and when the time is right, he moves his hand in our situation. Job was a man who went through tremendous personal challenges, from his children being killed to loosing all of his possessions and his health deteriorating. At the same time, he was being discouraged by his wife and close friends. His wife was even telling him to forget about God because God obviously was not concerned about his situation: Job 2:7 Then Satan left the LORD's presence and made sores break out all over Job's body. Job 2:8 Job went and sat by the garbage dump and took a piece of broken pottery to scrape his sores. Job 2:9 His wife said to him, "You are still as faithful as ever, aren't you? Why don't you curse God and die?" Job 2:10 Job answered, "You are talking nonsense! When God sends us something good, we welcome it. How can we complain when he sends us trouble?" Even in all this suffering Job said nothing against God. Job’s relationship with God was obviously far deeper then his wife’s relationship and he had a far greater understand of God than his wife did. Sometimes as well as the direct attack, Satan can also use an indirect attack and that can come through the people most closest to you, like a Wife or a Brother/Sister, a Parent, a Best friend etc However the knowledge of who God is and the wisdom of God should help you to respond in those situations: Pro 26:5 Answer a fool according to his foolishness, that he not be wise in his own eyes. When people try to turn you away from God or the things of God, they are foolish and a fool acts and talks out of ignorance: Psa 53:1 Fools say to themselves, "There is no God." They are all corrupt, and they have done terrible things; there is no one who does what is right. Psa 53:2 God looks down from heaven at people to see if there are any who are wise, any who worship him. So in order not to be foolish we need to know him through his word, so that in times of trouble and in times when God seems to be silent, we can stand and not be swayed by the opinions of man. Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? We need to trust in God even through the silent times because he will not give us more then we can bare and he will always give us a way of escape. If we endure to the end of the test or the season, then we will see the salvation of the Lord in our situation: Job 42:12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. Job 42:13 He had also seven sons and three daughters. Job 42:14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch. Job 42:15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. Job 42:16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations. Job 42:17 So Job died, being old and full of days. So what are you going through at the moment? Have you been praying and thinking God is not answering? HOLD ON! God IS on the job and he WILL bring you through. Parallel Business Principles When you are building your own business, you can go through period of success and other periods or seasons of dryness. It is important to know what season you are in and keep working through those seasons. The thing about seasons is, THEY CHANGE! You could be going through a challenging season in your business at the moment, but the word of God shows us that we should keep working through those seasons and not be lazy. Have you prayed to God for success, but done nothing consistently to work towards it? Or have you prayed to God for success and have worked hard but not smart? Have you prayed to God for success and have worked hard and smart? What ever your answer is, today is a new day and God is still faithful, so are you going to trust him and at the same time put the effort in? Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. God does not ignore us, however his does watch us, so let us not let him down with our poor attitude. *********************************************** Jason Gregory Business Coach & Mentor Reliv ***********************************************
