There is not one person who is ever born a Christian, being a Christian is as a result of a decision. Therefore every one of us came to Christ with baggage and a past.
It is important for us to understand that in order for us to move on in our relationship with God, we cannot hold onto the past, we cannot continue in the same habits we had in the past.
God has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light (1Peter 2:9)
If a person want to live in the past or look back and hold onto bad habits, the only thing that person is doing is destroying themselves. You may say you are a Christian; however you heart is where you place your treasures:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
When God was delivering Lot and his family out of Sodom and Gomorrah as he was destroying it because of the sin of the city, he instructed them not to look back as they were being delivered. However, because Lots wife’s heart was still in the city because she got used to the sinful lifestyle of the city, she looked back and because of that was turned into a pillar of salt (Gen 19:26)
We cannot be in the world and in the church at the same time, with God it is either all or nothing. That is not to say we are perfect because we are not, we will make mistakes, but we are being perfected.
A lot of times we hold onto the things of the past that are not helping us but are hindering us, so instead of letting go of certain things, we let those things move us further and further away from God. But listen to what the Apostle Paul said about past things that he used to value:
Php 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death;
Php 3:11 if by any means I might attain to the resurrection of the dead.
Php 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I am pressing on, if I may lay hold of that for which I also was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13 My brothers, I do not count myself to have taken possession, but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things before,
Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Php 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be of this mind. And if in anything you are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this to you.
Your past does not dictate your future, however your past can be a springboard towards your future. Many people use their past as an excuse for their bad behaviour saying things like “I’m trying to stop........” However saying I am trying to stop, give you permission to continue to do it!
God knows are hearts:
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
So when people say, who are making these excuses, that God knows their heart, they are absolutely correct and that alone should cause them to repent.
So God is calling each and every one of us out of our pasts and into our futures, some of us will choose to continue to keep on walking forward, other will turn back to look, resulting in our lives just being a monument of a bad decision.
The parallels in this are immense.
People come into business opportunities because they are looking for a better life for themselves and their families. However, many people who come into these opportunities have never run a business before, so they come in with an employee mindset. It will take personal growth for many people to break out of that and unfortunately some people never will and as a result of that they quit.
Reliv I believe is a once in a lifetime opportunity but in order for a person to see that they have to immerse themselves in the Reliv success system. If they don’t they will just see it as one of many business opportunities that are out there.
Many people when they first came to Reliv, were not:
Had no self confidence
Did not like speaking to people
Did not like standing in front of a group of people presenting
Could not understand the importance of Follow Up
Had the wrong motives in regards to the money they wanted to make.
However, when they immersed themselves in the Reliv system, all of that changed.
Then there are the others who did not immerse themselves in the Reliv system and kept their bad attitudes and today are nowhere to be seen.
You see if you cannot forget the things that are behind you and press forward, you will never be successful in whatever you do.
So if you are trying to build a Reliv business but you are holding onto to past defeats in your business, you are at a standstill and you need to let things go.
Remember God has promised to bless the work of your hands, if you put him first.
Mentor & Coach
Over the weekend I was blessing to be able to attend a men’s conference, to see hundreds of men worshipping together was truly amazing.
One of the organisers was giving his testimony about how God delivered him out of the drugs scene 20 years ago and how now his passion is to see the men that he knows who are still in the drug scene, saved. He spoke with passion and conviction and it really demonstrated how the truth can set a person free.
The amazing thing was the fact that he was not just going to sit down in his salvation, but he wanted others to experience what he have experienced.
God is love and he has invested his love in us and as we grow in God we naturally want to tell others about the love of God, because love can only be love if it is shared.
It is the responsibility of every Christian to be a witness for Christ, it’s about him not about us.
Isa 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Jesus commissioning Paul: Act 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
So as you can see we are ALL call to be witness for Jesus, its about him not about us.
Some people have the attitude, that their Christianity is private between them and God, so they never witness, go to church sometimes and never rock the boat when things happen that should cause them to stand up for Christian principals. They could not be further from the truth.
An isolated Christian is a weak and vulnerable Christian. We are called to fellowship with one another, so that corporately as a body of people we can lift up the name of Jesus.
Also there are things in place within the church specifically for a person’s growth the their faith:
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
We are not to be ashamed of the gospel when we are in the company of nonbelievers, but we should be bold. How many of you are intimidating to even bless your food when you are in the company of non believers out of fear of what they would think?
God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of love and power and a sound mind. Don’t let the enemy lie to you.
In all things we need to represent Jesus as ambassadors, in our walk, in our speech, in our attitudes and in our motives. It is all about him and not about us.
John the Baptist said “I have to decrease so that he can increase”.
Parallel Principals In Reliv we have to understand that one of the main strengths behind our business is that the products working. With over 20 years of stories, we need to get as many stories in front of people as we can. It is the weight of evidence which causes people to make a decision.
The reason why we as distributors speak with so much passion is because of the results we personally have had, and because of those results we want to share Reliv with everyone.
However the only way we are able to do this effectively is by using the Reliv System. A person who decides not to use to Reliv system is isolated and vulnerable, and it does not matter how passionate they are to share these products with people, they WILL fail to build a Reliv business.
There have been many people who have attempted to build their Reliv businesses outside of the system, ALL have failed.
As believers, Jesus gave us the formula to develop growth through the great commission and in a similar parallel, Reliv have given us the formula for growth through the Reliv System.
You can either choose to utilise it or not.
However remember the people that build strong businesses with Reliv recognise that what they are doing is bigger than them and bigger than just a business opportunity. We have a mandate passed on from Dr Theodre, “ To be ashamed to die until we have scored a victory for mankind”
