First of all I would like to say, Happy New Year to everyone!
We have been blessed to see another year, which means God’s plan for our lives has not been fulfilled yet, we still have work to do. The beginning of the year is always a time where people make renewed promises to themselves, they are called New Years Resolutions. Unfortunately by March, many of those promises have slipped to the wayside. Too many people lack perseverance, so at the first sign of a challenge or test, they just give up. As believers we need to understand, that our tests and challenges are not meant to break us, but to develop us: Jas 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation, because having been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Jas 1:13 Let no one being tempted say, I am tempted from God. For God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one. Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them. Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death. During these times of testing, we need to keep are eyes focus on God because if we don’t, our lower nature will take over and we will be drawn further away from God. No matter how bad it seems at the time, we need to persevere: 2Co 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 2Co 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 2Co 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. Without a test, we do not have a testimony, so we have to be patient through the test. Of our own ability we would struggle, and this is why we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to give us the ability to do it. So as believers once we are filled with the spirit of God, we should be operating in the fruits of the spirit and one of those is Patients and Longsuffering or perseverance. Jesus is are perfect example of how to endure tests and temptations, you see God did not just tell us how to live, he showed us how to live and that is why he can relate to ALL of our struggles: Heb 4:15 Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin! Heb 4:16 So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help. None of us know what this year is going to bring, there are many people that were around this time last year that are no longer with us. We need to maximize our lives and let God work through us: Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. We need to build a closer relationship with our creator in the next 12 months, so that we can be more effective against the enemy, because as we stay under God’s covering this is where we get directed and protected: Psa 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty. Psa 91:2 I will say of Jehovah, my refuge and my fortress; my God; in Him I will trust. Psa 91:3 Surely He will deliver you from the fowler's trap and from the destroying plague. Psa 91:4 He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall trust. His truth shall be your shield, and buckler. God’s plan for us in 2014 is one of good, that does not mean we will not have any struggles, but what is does mean is that, through the struggles he will be taking care of us, and even if we do not understand why we are going through certain things, we should still trust him in it: Jer 29:11 For I know the purposes which I am purposing for you, says Jehovah; purposes of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Parallel Principles At the beginning of this New Year, we need to forget about the challenges in 2013 and just look forward, because if you concentrate on the past, you will stay in the past. We cannot take away from what has happened, but we can influence what is yet to come! So what do you want to achieve in your Reliv business in 2014? What ever your goals are you need to have perseverance to see them fulfilled. You are going to get tested and challenged this year, you are going to get stretched. If you are expecting and problem free year, it is time to wake up to the reality of life. We need to get of minds geared for success, so that is recognizing, there are going to be good times and bad times and it is how you handle both of those times, which will determine whether or not you will be successful. Remember what the Bible says: (Paraphrased) ”Wide is the gate and broad is the way which leads to destruction and many people choose to go that way, but narrow is the gate and straight is the way which leads to salvation (or success) and only a few people are prepared to go down that road.” Which way will you take in 2014? ******************************************************* Jason Gregory Business Coach & Mentors Reliv *******************************************************
