Our lives are a sum total of our choices, we choose if we love or hate, if we exercise or sit in front of the TV, where we live, how we bring up our kids, if we forgive, if we move forward or just stay the same, etc, etc.
We also choose whether or not we respond to the gospel message when we hear it. Many times it takes multiple exposures to the gospel message before a person responds and it is only because of God’s grace and mercy that we get those multiply chances. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow and sadly many times people hear to gospel message and do not respond and do not live to hear it again. 2Co 6:1 But working together, we also call on you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2Co 6:2 (For He says, "In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation, I helped you;" Behold, now is the accepted time. Behold, now is the day of salvation.) The gospel message transcends culture, race, age, gender and even religion, the gospel message is one of intimate personal relationship with your creator. Whether you have that relationship with God is your choice. Many people’s choices have caused a lot of negative things to happen in their life but they are so insular, they always blame somebody else and never take responsibility for their wrong choices. Then there are the other type of people who have also made wrong choices but they realise things cannot stay the same but something has to change and they start thinking differently, which results in different choices. Staying in the same place is not an option for them. There is power in a choice, one good choice can change the whole course of your life. On the flip side one bad choice can also change to course of your life, there are many people in prison or in the grave that had so much potential but because of one bad choice they never reached it. Let me show how the power of a good choice couple with guidance of God, can not effect you but those around you: There was a time in Israel’s past that there was a great famine in the land when they were being attacked by the King of Syria. The famine was so great that people were spending large amounts of money on Donkey’s heads and Dove dung as food. It even got to the stage where some people had resorted to cannibalism. During this time God had sent a word through Elisha his prophet to say he was going to deliver them and it was imminent. Some people choose to believe and some people choose not to believe. One man was very vocal in his non belief and that was an officer of the King, in fact he even went as far as to say this state: “Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be?” (In other words, Yeah Right!) That one statement took him out of the promises of God because Elisa then said to him: “Behold, you shall see with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” Round about the same time there were 4 lepers that were by the city gate. Now you need to understand, if the famine in the city was bad enough for the people to be behaving like that, then it was even worse for the lepers, because they were not even aloud in the city and if they did go in they would be stoned to death. However they had reached to the stage where staying in the same place was not an option: And they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die? 2Ki 7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we still sit here, we also shall die. And now come and let us fall to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we shall live. And if they kill us, we shall only die. They did not give themselves a plan B, their only option was to move forward, because moving forward was better than dying in the same position without even trying! However God came through for them and as they were walking towards the enemies’ camp, he made their feet sound like a great army and the enemy ran for their lives leaving all of their provisions behind. So, they were able to eat and drink as much as they liked when they entered the camp. Not only that but they also sent message to the people in the city about the good news and the people were also able to come out and eat. The choice of 4 outcasts that under normal circumstances people would not even listen to, was able to turn a whole city’s fortunes around! (To Read to full account go to 2 Kings 7) What has God promised you, which will need you to make a definitive choice, do you have to make, that does not give you a plan b, but fear is stopping you from making it? Don’t you know that you are his child and if he needs to open the windows of heaven to provide for you, he will, if you put him first and trust him? Parallel Principals Many people are at the stage of life with their health and their finances that staying in the same place is not an option. They need to move forward and they are looking for the right vehicle to take them there. There are other people who are in need but are not actively looking for a way out but are just dealing with their situation on a day to day basis. However the ones who are looking are like the lepers that were at the city gate and when they find something, they are able to enjoy the benefits of it, but then also go back to those people who are just coping and tell them the good news of what they have found. Some people will listen and some people will not. Some people will start on the road to the camp and give up along the way and some people will finish the journey. You do not know who is going to do what, but what you do know is, there is provision in the Reliv camp for whoever understand that “Staying In The Same Place Is Not An Option” ************************************************************* Jason Gregory Business Business & Mentor Reliv *************************************************************
